Morocco’s King Mohammed VI on Thursday expressed his deep appreciation to the Moroccan people for the successful hosting of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, held from Dec. 21, 2025, to Jan. 18, 2026, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet.
The king praised citizens across the kingdom for their collective efforts, saying the tournament’s success earned global recognition and highlighted Morocco’s organizational and infrastructural progress. He also commended millions of Moroccans at home and abroad for their unwavering support of the national team, which has risen to eighth place in the world rankings.
While regretting unsportsmanlike incidents during the final match against Senegal, the statement stressed that African solidarity would ultimately prevail. The king reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to Africa, underscoring the kingdom’s dedication to unity, cooperation and shared development across the continent.
