Hebrew media outlet i24NEWS has reported that Morocco will resume direct flights to Israel starting Thursday, marking the first such move by an Islamic country since the Gaza war began on October 7, 2023.

According to the report, Morocco’s decision follows more than two years of suspended flights due to heightened tensions in the region.

The resumption will allow Israeli citizens to enter Morocco once again, reopening an important route between the two nations.

The development comes after discussions between Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev and Moroccan Transport Minister Abdel Samad Qayouh, with official authorisation granted by both countries’ civil aviation authorities.

This step reflects renewed coordination between Israeli and Moroccan transport and security officials, who have been exploring the feasibility of restoring direct air links in recent months.

Flights between the two countries were initially suspended following the outbreak of the Gaza war, as travel warnings to Morocco were raised and airlines from both nations temporarily halted operations.
