Today, the government of Morocco extended the state of health emergency to the 10th of October, which is the sixth extension since March 20, with the aim of fighting the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.

The head of government at the end of the weekly meeting, stated, "The Council approved the extension of the state of health emergency throughout the country, until October 10 at 6 pm, as part of the efforts made to combat the outbreak of the new epidemic."

The government held its meeting, a day before its usual time, to decide to extend the current state of emergency, which is supposed to end on the evening of Thursday, September 10.

The government decision allows the continuation of the exceptional measures taken by the authorities to contain the spread of the virus.

The most prominent measures used to implement the governmental decisions are to tighten transportation measures to and from cities classified as epidemic spots and to impose immediate financial fines on people who do not wear masks in public places and to prohibit gatherings and close beaches.

Morocco has witnessed an alarming shift in dealing with Coronavirus as it has recorded daily since last August, a significant increase in daily injuries and deaths, and the total number of injuries has exceeded 75 thousand and 700 confirmed cases.
