The Moroccan Interior Ministry said on Saturday that the death toll from the earthquake has risen to 1,037.

Another 1,204 people were injured, including 721 in a critical condition, the ministry added in a statment.

It is worth mentioning, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 has struck central Morocco, causing damage in several areas, according to BBC news.

The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, at a depth of 18.5km, the US Geological Survey said.

It struck at 23:11 local time, followed by a 4.9 aftershock 19 minutes later.
