Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that King Mohammed VI has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Council as a founding member.
"This invitation reflects international appreciation for the King of Morocco’s status and his role in consolidating peace and stability," Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement further noted that the Kingdom will ratify the council’s founding charter, which is set to operate as an international organization with limited membership, restricted to prominent leaders invited by the U.S. President.
Furthermore, Morocco praised the announcement of the launch of "Phase Two" in Gaza, as well as the official establishment of the National Committee for Gaza Management as a temporary transitional body.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to achieving a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the Middle East. This vision supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, "living side by side in peace with Israel," the statement concluded.
