High-speed monorails to connect Egypt's new cities

CAIRO, JULY 5 (SEE) The ministries of transportation and housing will present to qualified international and local firms a project to develop a two fast monorail trains, Connecting Ain Sukhna with New Al-Alamain, and the new administrative capital with October 6 city, next week.

The final contract is to be signed during the meeting of the Higher Committee. The tender will be executed on 16 alliances that were rehabilitated during the last period, distributed as 10 local and international corporations for the fast train, and 6 for the implementation of the new administrative monorail.

Some conditions include providing a financial offer that fully covers the foreign segment of the business at a simple interest rate, allowing for a long repayment period, noting that the cost of the two projects is close to $ 7 billion.

The length of the express train is about 534 km. A double rail line for the transport of passengers and goods, without any surface intersections. It contributes to linking the administrative capital and the new Cairo to the existing railway network. It also serves the transport of goods to and from the ports of Sokhna and Alexandria.

The "Monorail" is a fast transmission line that runs on an outstanding concrete road, connects 6th of October City and Sheikh Zayed in Cairo and Giza, with a length of 35 km in its first phase. It has a maximum capacity of about 1 million passengers per day.
