Mohamed Maait was officially appointed as head of the Arab group at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), succeeding Mahmoud Mohieldin, who ended his tenure.
Maait was elected by 12 countries, for a four-year term as it was officially announced during the current annual meetings of the IMF in the US capital, Washington.
The former minister of finance held the Ministry of Finance portfolio for about 6 years in difficult circumstances during the coronavirus period, the inflationary wave, and the Ukrainian-Russian war.
Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) expressed his sincere appreciation to Mahmoud Mohieldin, on the occasion of the end of his term as Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and representative of Egypt, the Arab Group and the Maldives on its Board of Directors, for his efforts over the past four years.
On Monday, in the US capital, Washington, the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were launched in the presence of a high-level Egyptian delegation.
