Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated that the reality of the ongoing external war has accelerated the collapse of the pillars of the Velayat-e Faqih regime. He emphasized that true and desired change cannot be imposed through external bombardment or foreign military intervention but is rather an exclusive responsibility of the Iranian people and their organized resistance.
In a strategic analysis for the Romanian newspaper *Liberta tea*, Mohaddessin said: "International bombardment and sanctions, despite their impact in weakening the regime's military machine, will not topple a government on their own. The overthrow of this bloody regime requires a force on the ground, and this force is represented by the volcano of popular anger and the organized Resistance Units of the National Liberation Army of Iran (NLA), which are spread throughout the country, awaiting the moment of the final strike."
He added: "We categorically reject any form of foreign occupation or ground military intervention. The repetition of failed regional scenarios in Iran is impossible and nationally unacceptable. Iran's vast geography and the patriotism of its 92 million people make any foreign invasion a fantasy. Legitimacy and sovereignty must be transferred from the hands of the clerical junta to the hands of the people through internal democratic change."
Mohaddessin continued: "The era of the executioner Mullah Khamenei has ended, and the regime is living its final days, drowning in its structural crises. Today, Tehran fears peace more than war; because any ceasefire will inevitably lead to an internal explosion and millions of people questioning the utility of wasting the country's wealth for decades, paving the way for a decisive popular uprising that will uproot the Velayat-e Faqih."
He explained: "While the world is preoccupied with external war, the Resistance Units inside the country continue their strategic operations with high focus, preparing the ground for the regime's imminent collapse. The steadfastness of our heroes in the dungeons—led by the six martyrs and members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) who were executed at dawn on April 4, 2026, including the heroes Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer—proves that the gallows will not break the will for liberation, but are rather the fuel that paves the road to freedom."
Mohaddessin emphasized: "The European Union, especially France, Germany, Italy, and Britain, must take a historic stance by supporting the Iranian people's right to change their regime and recognizing the Provisional Government announced by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi based on the 10-point plan, to ensure a peaceful transition of sovereignty to the Iranian people."
Mohaddessin concluded his statement by saying: "As a former political prisoner who suffered from SAVAK torture during the Shah's era, I affirm that the brutality of the Mullahs is the other face of the Shah's dictatorship. Our goal is to establish a democratic Islam that respects the will of the people. The Iranian Resistance will not allow the replacement of one tyranny with another, and the final word will belong to the ballot boxes in a free and prosperous Iran."
