Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met with Natalia Rossi, the UNICEF Representative in Egypt, and her accompanying delegation at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Capital. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in child health.
In a statement, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the meeting reaffirmed UNICEF's vital role as a key partner in supporting programs focused on child health, nutrition, immunization, and early childhood development, in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals.
The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in primary healthcare and maternal and child health services, as well as expanding nutrition and vaccination programs. Additionally, the talks covered the support for digital transformation in the health sector, improvements in health information systems and data management, and efforts to strengthen the healthcare system's resilience in addressing crises and public health emergencies.
The meeting also addressed the need to expand community awareness initiatives and build the capacity of primary healthcare workers, while emphasizing the importance of increasing participation in presidential health initiatives.
The spokesman noted that the minister praised the ongoing successful collaboration with UNICEF through both short- and long-term programs. He stressed the importance of continuing this partnership to improve child health indicators and enhance services provided through primary healthcare units.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Ministers Amr Qandil and Abla El-Alfy, Assistant Deputy Minister Zainab El-Sadr, and Ahmed Abdel Daim, Acting Head of Health at UNICEF.
