Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population (MoH) has announced the launch of a nationwide blood donation campaign under the slogan “Your Donation is Life”.
The initiative began on September 25 and will run until the end of the month, coinciding with Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, said the campaign has two main goals: raising awareness about the benefits of blood donation—both for patients and donors—and promoting a culture of sustainable donation beyond emergency response.
He explained that regular donation helps renew blood cells, improve circulation, and reduce risks of conditions such as arterial blockages and heart disease.
Abdel Ghaffar noted that blood donation rates in Egypt remain below 1 percent, compared with international benchmarks of 2–3 percent.
"To address this, the campaign is deploying 28 mobile donation units across governorates, alongside government and university hospital blood banks," he added.
The Health Ministry spokesperson affirmed that the donation process is entirely safe and adheres to the highest standards of storage and quality.
