Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced on Thursday that it has provided more than 125 million medical services to women across the country under the presidential “100 Million Health” initiative, marking a major milestone in the government’s efforts to strengthen women’s healthcare services nationwide.

The announcement came as Egypt marked International Women’s Health Day, with health officials highlighting the country’s expanding investment in preventive and therapeutic healthcare programs targeting women.

Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said the political leadership has placed women’s health at the center of national policy, describing healthcare support for women as a key pillar for sustainable development and social stability.

According to Abdel-Ghaffar, the initiative has established an integrated healthcare system that provides women with preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services throughout different stages of life. The programs include early detection of cancer, reproductive healthcare, and psychological support services.

The ministry said the expansion of women’s healthcare services is closely linked to the ongoing implementation of Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance system, which has already registered more than two million women during its first phase.

Officials added that the healthcare infrastructure supporting the initiative includes more than 5,500 primary healthcare facilities nationwide, alongside 2,800 women-friendly medical units offering specialized services.

The ministry also highlighted the role of around 14,000 community health workers who are supporting outreach efforts in rural and underserved areas, helping improve access to healthcare services and raise awareness among women across the country.

Egypt has increasingly expanded public health campaigns in recent years under the “100 Million Health” initiative, which was launched to improve disease prevention, early diagnosis, and access to healthcare services for citizens nationwide.
