Christopher McQuarrie, the director of "Mission Impossible 7", announced recently on Instagram that the production had wrapped in Abu Dhabi and he was heading back to London for a few finishing touches.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise is reprising his role as the seemingly indestructible globe-trotting secret agent Ethan Hunt in real life as well as in the seventh and eighth follow-ups of the hugely successful franchise “Mission Impossible”.

The latest editions in the Tom Cruise-starring franchise are scheduled to be released in November 2021 and November 2022, respectively.

It was set that that production of the movies would be filmed back-to-back, however, "Mission Impossible 7" was postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The change in timetable caused by the delays means there is now a scheduling conflict for Cruise, who needs to promote worldwide his upcoming film "Top Gun: Maverick", which is set to be released in July.

This means that he can't begin production on the eighth movie in the "Mission Impossible" franchise straight away as he had planned.

"Top Gun: Maverick" sees Cruise reprising his role of Navy aviator Pete Mitchell, who returns as a test pilot who is still willing to push the boundaries. Mitchell confronts his past as he trains new recruits for a dangerous mission that will demand the ultimate sacrifice.
