Miss Alabama Zoe Sozo Bethel died in a tragic accident as she fell out of a third-floor window, police announced on Tuesday. She was 27.

On Feb. 11 at about 12:05 a.m., Miami Police Department officers "responded to a call of a possible suicide attempt," authorities told People in a statement.

The police noted that Bethel, who was crowned Miss Alabama for America Strong 2021, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma, adding that the manner was accidental. "This was a tragic accident, and no foul play is suspected," police revealed.

Last week, Bethel's family shared that she was injured in an incident.

"Zoe had an accident Thursday night, February 10th, & sustained severe damage to her brain/brainstem & is in a coma. Unfortunately, the doctors are saying the damage cannot be repaired & that she may not have much time left," they wrote in a post on her Instagram.

In a similar incident, former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst died after jumping from 60-storey building in Manhattan, according to New York City Police Department.

“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” her family said in a statement obtained by CNN. “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”
