Today, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian Tourism Authority, organized a sightseeing tour in Alexandria for the winners of the second edition of the “My Country’s Culture” competition, launched by Al-Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy under the patronage of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.

The competition aims to introduce international students to the culture, values, and traditions of Egyptian society, while fostering cooperation between them and their Egyptian peers.

Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, highlighted the Ministry’s keenness to organize such tours for competition winners since its first edition. He explained that this initiative aligns with the Ministry’s promotional strategy to showcase Egypt as a distinguished cultural and tourist destination worldwide, while also boosting domestic tourism. He stressed that exposing international students to Egypt’s rich and diverse heritage helps strengthen cultural and civilizational ties and turns them into ambassadors for Egyptian tourism once they return to their home countries.

Eng. Ahmed Youssef, Assistant Minister for Strategic Administration Affairs and Acting CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, added that these tours also play a vital role in enhancing tourism and heritage awareness across different segments of society, particularly among young preachers who will pass on this knowledge to future generations.

During the tour, participants visited the Royal Jewelry Museum and the Graeco-Roman Museum, where they explored the exhibition halls and learned about the history and treasures of both institutions. They were accompanied by members of the Authority’s Alexandria office, and received souvenirs and promotional materials showcasing Egypt’s diverse tourist attractions, especially in Alexandria.

At the end of the tour, participants expressed great admiration for the vibrant atmosphere of Alexandria and for the artifacts they encountered, which enriched their knowledge of Egypt’s ancient civilization and the history of the city.
