Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, said that within the framework of the government’s efforts and preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the ministry is working to intensify communication and discussions with development partners, to discuss cooperation at the technical level as well as financing development projects that the state is working on Implemented as part of efforts to transition to a green economy.
The minister stressed that Egypt is seeking to organize an exceptional version of the climate conference that would enhance local, regional, and international efforts aimed at preserving the environment, reducing harmful emissions, and supporting climate action.
This came during a meeting with Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, to discuss proposals for cooperation with development partners, within the framework of preparations for hosting the COP27 climate conference, in the presence of representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs, environment, and international cooperation.
The international institutions expressed great willingness to participate in all work axes related to the climate conference in the next COP27 edition, in Sharm El-Sheikh.
