The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the volume of intra-regional trade between Egypt and Sweden has achieved continuous increases over the past six years, reaching about $1.12 billion in 2022, achieving an increase of 30% compared to 2021.
The volume of Swedish investments in Egypt amounted to about $145 million as of the end of April 2022, in the number of 222 projects covering various sectors.
Eng. Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, visited the Swedish capital, Stockholm, on the 13th and 14th of March, during which he held bilateral discussions with Johan Forssell, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Trade, International Cooperation and Development.
The two ministers discussed mechanisms of strengthening joint cooperation frameworks between the two countries in the fields of trade, industry, and attracting Swedish investments to Egypt, an Egyptian-Swedish business forum was launched on the sidelines of the visit as a first step and a platform for joint economic cooperation between the two countries during the next stage.
