Minister: Egypt's Coronavirus Epidemiological Situation 'Under Control'

Health Minister Hala Zayed said that the epidemiological situation of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Egypt is 'under control'.

In a press conference, the minister added that Egypt will see the peak of Coronavirus infections within 3 or 4 weeks, adding that the 4th COVID-19 wave witnesses low death rates compared to the previous waves.

Concerning, Ma’an Natmaen “Together, We Reassured… Register Now” campaign, Zayed stressed that it aims to encourage citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Moreover, she added that the campaigner has been already launched in 21 governorates, and has registered more than 50,000 citizens on the ministry’s website.

On Wednesday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 692 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 298,988.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 17,043 nationwide after the ministry announced 27 deaths.

About 507  patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 251,902.
