On Thursday, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek Al-Molla revealed that the Government adopted a National Hydrogen Strategy.
During a virtual African-German Forum on hydrogen industry, Al-Molla said: "Green hydrogen is the energy source of the future." On this basis, Egypt wants to be one of the global pioneers of this forward-looking technology," he added.
Furthermore, Al-Molla said that his government is currently communicating with international companies with great technical expertise in this field to develop the first industrial plant for “green hydrogen” in Egypt.
"The government will support and build a hydrogen application and technology center for the upstream industries in Egypt," the minister said.
It's worth mentioning that Hydrogen is key for decarbonizing key Egypt’s sectors such as the steel and chemical industries and the transport sector.
