Min. of Higher Education Produces Disinfectants to Combat Coronavirus

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that the National Petrochemical committee managed to produce 3 products for disinfection against the emerging coronavirus "Covid 19".

The minister took this move in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Petroleum Research Institute, the Unit for Genetic Engineering at the National Research Center, within the framework of a plan the Egyptian state to confront the new Coronavirus.

This came during the minister’s visit on Sunday morning to the headquarters of the National Petrochemical Alliance, which comes in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic Abdelfattah El- Sisi to the necessity of raising the degree of readiness in cooperation between all concerned authorities in the country to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.

The ministry is also activating all elements of research and medical system for confronting the virus, and taking all the procedures that guarantee the safety and protection of the Egyptian people.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar explained that a working group of professors specializing in pharmacy, medicine, biochemistry and applied was formed to prepare antiseptics for prevention and sterilization at the headquarters of the alliance.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar said that about 500 barrels per day with a capacity of 200 liters per barrel of antiseptic solution to eliminate viruses and bacteria "Chemocide" is produced. plus "according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization.

He added that the product is currently being supplied to universities, research centers and oil sector companies, which contributes to achieving self-sufficiency from antiseptics, which suffers from a shortage of many countries in the world, and the minister added various agencies in the The state need to provide these disinfectants.

He emphasized that the cleansing process will continue in all educational institutions, university hospitals, and all entities affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
