Mehdi Aghbaei, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated today that recent developments in Iran and the region confirm beyond any doubt that the only force capable of ending religious tyranny and dismantling the apparatus of repression is the organized Iranian Resistance and its striking force, the Resistance Units.

Aghbaei said: "The 39-day regional war, which concluded with a ceasefire on April 8, while dealing devastating blows to the regime's infrastructure—most notably the death of the executioner Valy-e Faqih Ali Khamenei in an airstrike on February 28—has proven that foreign military intervention is not the path to liberating Iran. Instead, the solution lies exclusively in the will of the Iranian people and their Resistance, which today stands ready to topple this crumbling regime."

Aghbaei explained that the Velayat-e Faqih regime attempted to exploit the fog of war to intensify its campaign of repression and executions internally. He added: "Following the death of Khamenei, the regime resorted on March 9 to installing his son, Mojtaba, in a desperate attempt to transform the religious dictatorship into a hereditary sultanate. This was accompanied by a wave of brutal executions involving 10 political prisoners in a single week, including 6 members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK): the heroes Vahid Bani Amerian, Abolhassan Montazer, Pouya Ghobadi, Mohammad Taghavi, Akbar Daneshvar Kar, and Babak Alipour. They faced the gallows with unparalleled courage, proving with their blood that this generation does not fear death in the pursuit of freedom."

Aghbaei continued: "The coverage by the French channel BFMTV regarding the growing power of the Resistance Units and their transformation into a nightmare haunting the dictatorship is a reflection of the reality on the ground. The strategic operation carried out by 250 PMOI fighters at dawn on February 23 against the fortified Motahari complex in Tehran shattered the regime's security aura and proved the existence of a functional Liberation Army in the heart of the capital, capable of delivering strategic blows to the centers of power."

Aghbaei emphasized that the false alternatives being promoted by the remnants of the deposed Shah’s regime—who have called for the bombing of Iran’s infrastructure—have been categorically rejected by the Iranian people. He noted that the popular slogan 'Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Mullah' has finalized the national choice toward an independent democratic republic.

Aghbaei stressed the importance of the announcement of the Provisional Government by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), saying: "The democratic alternative led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi possesses a clear roadmap to transfer sovereignty to the people through free elections within six months. This was affirmed by former German Justice Minister Herta Däubler-Gmelin at the Paris conference, where she considered the trial of the regime's executioners a historical necessity."

Aghbaei concluded: "Today, the international community must cease its failed policy of appeasement toward the Mullahs in Tehran and recognize the legitimate right of the Iranian people and the Resistance Units to confront the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and overthrow the Velayat-e Faqih regime. We also emphasize that ending executions must be a fundamental condition in any international dealings, as lasting peace in the region will only be achieved through a free, democratic, and non-nuclear republic in Iran."
