Mehdi Aghabai, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated that the surge in brutal executions carried out by the regime domestically reflects the existential panic gripping the remnants of the Velayat-e Faqih system following the death of Khamenei. This surge occurs as the regime’s military infrastructure continues to erode under the weight of the devastating external war currently raging in the region.
Aghabai noted, "The recent report by the French newspaper *Le Parisien*, published on April 26, struck at the heart of the matter. It confirmed that the 'Strategy of the Gallows' has become the regime's primary and most effective tool to sow terror and prevent new popular uprisings. The report highlighted that this repressive weapon now plays a more critical and decisive role in ensuring the dictatorship's survival in its final days than even the nuclear program itself."
He added, "We are sounding the alarm regarding a 'silent massacre' currently targeting 17 political prisoners who are supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The Mullahs are attempting to replicate the 1988 massacre scenario under the cover of the external war. In this context, we strongly condemn the recent execution of 8 members of the PMOI, most notably Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer, who faced the gallows with heroism, remaining steadfast in the cause of their people's freedom."
Aghabai continued, "The killing machine of the Velayat-e Faqih regime does not stop claiming the lives of the youth, as seen with the young university student Amir Ali Mir-Jafari (24 years old), who was executed in cold blood to intimidate the rising generation. The regime is exploiting the international community's preoccupation with the regional war and is resorting to internet shutdowns as a perfect cover to isolate the Iranian interior and liquidate dissidents in total silence, away from the scrutiny of human rights organizations."
He explained, "Despite this excessive repression, the Resistance Units continue their strategic missions of intelligence gathering and executing qualitative operations against centers of oppression. They confirm that the gallows will only increase the Iranian people's determination to topple this crumbling structure. The Iranian Resistance, which has announced the formation of a Provisional Government based on Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan, is the ready democratic alternative to transition sovereignty to the people."
Aghabai emphasized, "The era of the Mullahs ended with the death of Khamenei, and these executions are nothing but a desperate attempt to delay the collapse. We call on the international community to break its silence and recognize the right of the Iranian people to overthrow this terrorist regime."
He concluded, "The blood of the martyrs, from Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer to every young person who sacrificed themselves on the threshold of freedom, is the ultimate guarantee for achieving a bright tomorrow and establishing a democratic republic that ends the era of Velayat-e Faqih forever."
