Mehdi Abghayi, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated today that the Mullahs' regime’s resort to accelerating the pace of criminal executions and the liquidation of dissident prisoners—as documented by international reports, including those from The Independent—is a desperate attempt to cover up the regime's existential collapse in the face of the raging external war and the death of the executioner Ali Khamenei.
Abghayi said: "The Mullahs' reliance on mass killings and the use of gallows to extinguish the flame of popular anger proves that the Velayat-e Faqih regime’s panic over the impending uprising far outweighs its fear of any external threat. Secret executions based on forced confessions are the weapon of the helpless against a boiling society that is seizing the opportunity to overthrow the Mullahs' rule forever."
He added: "Following the death of the executioner Khamenei and the installation of his son, Mojtaba—effectively transforming the religious dictatorship into a fragile hereditary monarchy—the regime has completely lost its balance. The wave of executions targeting members of the Iranian Resistance and the Resistance Units reflects a profound terror of the organized force capable of leading society toward democratic change."
Abghayi continued: "At a time when the external war is ravaging the regime's military machine, the Mullahs are directing their bayonets at the chests of defenseless political prisoners. We warn against a repetition of the 1988 massacre scenario; the Iranian Resistance is closely monitoring the movements of the executioners in Evin, Ghezel Hesar, and other prisons, and these crimes will not go unpunished."
He explained: "The Resistance Units, which have become the de facto liberation army in the heart of the capital, Tehran, and all cities, are continuing their strategic operations to strike the centers of oppression and plunder. These operations are the only practical response the Mullahs understand, and they will pave the way for the regime’s overthrow from within, independent of any foreign military intervention—which the Resistance does not welcome."
Abghayi emphasized: "Mrs. Maryam Rajavi has clearly announced the formation of the Provisional Government based on the 10-point plan to fully transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people. This project is the democratic alternative that rejects the tyranny of the 'Shah and the Mullah' and guarantees a free, peaceful, and non-nuclear Iran."
Abghayi concluded: "The international community is required today to recognize the right of the Iranian people and the Resistance Units to overthrow the Velayat-e Faqih regime. The gallows will not save the Mullahs from their inevitable fate, and the cries for freedom rising from the cells of the Resistance will soon turn into a flood that uproots this terrorist regime."
