WASHINGTON, Mar. 8 (SEE)- Women have founded companies, pioneered new technologies, and made enormous progress in numerous fields. According to Forbes, only five out of the list of the world's 50 richest people are women.
Women billionaires' net worth is $53.1 billion, more than the combined gross domestic product (GDP) of Iceland, Honduras, and Cambodia.
Here is the list of the world's richest women for the year 2019:
1. The World's wealthiest woman is French Francoise Meyers, the granddaughter of L’Oreal’s founder. She holds 33 percent of the company's shares, with a net worth of $49.3 billion. She serves as president of her family’s foundation since 1997.
2. America's Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart's founder Sam Walton, arrives second on the list. Walmart is a multi-national retail chain cooperation founded in 1962. However, Walton prefers art over retail business, opening the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas. She holds a net worth of $44.4 billion making her the 17th world's richest.
3. Jacqueline Mars net worth is estimated at $23.9 billion in 2019. Mars holds around 33.3 percent of the world’s largest candy-maker, Mars Inc. She served the company for almost 20 years until 2016. Momentarily, she is a humanitarian contributor, who serves on six boards, including the National Archives and the Smithsonian.
4. Chinese Yang Huiyan holds 57 percent of real estate developer Country Garden Holdings, which she inherited from her father. She also presides over Bright Scholar Education Holdings. Huiyan's net worth is $22.1 billion.
5. Susanne Klatten net worth is $21 billion, making her the richest woman in Germany and the 38th wealthiest in the world. Her mother was the wife of Herbert Quandt, who guided BMW out of bankruptcy after refusing to sell his 50 percent stake in the company, offering Klatten 20 percent of the automaker. She is also the heir and deputy chairman of Altana for chemicals.
6. Steve Jobs' widow, Laurene Powell Jobs made it to the sixth position with a $20.5 billion net worth, mostly accumulated from stakes in Apple Inc. and Disney. In 2004, she founded the social change organization Emerson Collective.
7. Since 2014, Abigail Johnson has been the CEO of Fidelity Investments after her father. Fidelity is a multinational financial services corporation. Johnson's accumulated wealth account for $15.6 billion.
8. Iris Fontbona, the widow of Andronico Luksic, who made his fortune from banking, mining, and beverages through the traded Chilean conglomerate Quiñenco. Fontbona holds a net worth of $15.4 billion.
9. Australian Gina Rinehart raised her $15.2 billion wealth from iron ore. She turned her father's bankrupted firm into a successful one. She is also one of the biggest cattle producers in Australia.
10. Widow of real estate developer Kwok Tak-seng, Kwong Siu-hing's is the last on our list, Siu-hing hold a net worth of $15.1 billion. She chaired Chinese Sun Hung Properties from 2008 until 2016.
