The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has issued a royal decree appointing Princess Haifa Bint Abdul Aziz Al-Muqrin as the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The decision comes a year after Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud was appointed as the country’s ambassador to Washington, to be the first woman in the history of Saudi Arabia to serve in this position.
Facts about Princess Haifa Bint Abdul Aziz Al-Muqrin:
- From 2008 to 2009, princess Haifa served as a lecturer at King Saud University.
- She has held various key positions at the Ministry of Economy and Planning, including assistant undersecretary for sustainable development affairs, acting assistant undersecretary for G20 affairs, as well as head of the Sustainable Development Goals Sector.
- In 2007, she has got a master’s degree in economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in the UK.
- In 2000, she received a bachelor’s degree in economics from King Saud University in Riyadh.
- She has wide experience in the social and economic fields, their applications, as well as international work.
- From 2009 to 2016, Princess Haifa worked in the United Nations Development Program as a project and national official.
