Chanel's global creative makeup and color designer Lucia Pica has dropped spring-summer 2020 collection, Desert Dream.

The collection was inspired by Pica's visit to Namibia, which radiates desert vibes with warm pinks, golden bronzes, and chocolate browns.

"I was expecting to see bright colors in Namibia, but instead I was surprised by the sense of emptiness, stillness, and silence. I took that and made it the essence of the collection," Pica revealed in an interview.

She continued: "There's a sense of blurriness, a sense of stillness, and a brown tonal color that's present everywhere."

Pica wanted to bring that calm, peaceful energy to makeup, and so, Desert Dream was born.

"When you look at the collection, you have this feeling of a dreamy, romantic memory," she added.

Chanel Desert Dream was released on chanel.com, on December 16.

"Generally speaking, I associate emotions with colors quite a lot," she says. "This mauve, taupe, brown, earthy color with accents of peach and pink makes me feel contentment and grace. This is just where I feel like I am at the moment and I think it's what's needed right now."

She brought photos home, stuck them on her wall in Paris, and picked out the colors she wanted to transfer to makeup.

Pica's favorite part of the collection are Stylo Ombre Et Contour Eye Shadow in mauve, powder eye shadows, Ombre Première Laque a liquid eye shadow that comes in five new metallic shades — metallic ivory beige, metallic mauve peach, metallic mauve brown, metallic violet brown, and metallic apricot.
