Professor Ahmed Fouad Hanno took the helm as the Minister of Culture on Wednesday and here are some known facts about him below:
Born on December 13, 1968, he obtained a BA in the Faculty of Fine Arts, specializing in Etching. He also earned an MA in Experimental Animation Films from Cairo University in 1997, and a doctorate in the philosophy of art, with a specialization in Communication, Visual and Animation Film creation.
Prior to his new position, Dr. Hanno, who is one of the founders of Galala National University, has held various positions at the university, including Vice President for Student Affairs in 2023 and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design in 2021.
He has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University in 2019.
He has also worked at other universities such as the German University in Cairo, Nile International University, and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universities of Minya and Mansoura.
Since 1992, Dr. Hanno has been an active member of the Fine Artists Syndicate and the Animation Artists Syndicate, as well as the Fine Arts Lovers Association.
Throughout his career, he has received several awards and honors, including the Best Design Award for Animated Film at the Arab Animation Forum in 2014, and the Best Director Award at the Cairo International Animated Film Festival in 2020. He has also received the Excellence Award at the Luxor Forum for African Arts in 2020, and Helwan University’s Honor for General Excellence in 2021.
He is well-known for joining several committees, including the Committee for Examining Productions to Obtain the State Encouragement Awards in Arts and Letters at the Supreme Council of Culture in 2021, the Supreme Committee for the Luxor International Photography Forum in 2020 and 2021, and the Scientific Committee for Preparing Museum Display Scenarios at the Ministry of Antiquities.
In 2022, Hanno became the president of the Cairo International Animation Forum, which is affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund of the Ministry of Culture.
