Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that there are several reasons for which Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons, APA reported.
And all of them are spelled out in the relevant document, which demonstrates the country’s determination to defend its sovereignty.
He explained that there are several grounds under which the Russian Federation has the right to use nuclear weapons. The first is the situation when Russia was hit by a missile attack using nuclear weapons. The second case is a different use of nuclear weapons against the Russian Federation or its allies.
The third case is an encroachment on critical infrastructure, as a result of which the activity of the Russian nuclear deterrent forces is paralyzed.
Fourth, when an act of aggression is carried out against the Russian Federation or its allies, as a result of which the very existence of the country is threatened, even without the use of nuclear weapons, that is, with the use of conventional weapons.
