Western reports reported on Saturday that an Israeli-Qatari meeting is expected to take place within days to discuss resuming negotiations to release prisoners held in Gaza by Hamas.

The reports quoted an Israeli source as saying that the director of the Israeli Mossad intelligence, Dadi Barnea, may meet with the Qatari Foreign Minister (FM), Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, at the end of this week.

According to the same source, Tel Aviv has expressed its willingness to discuss a new agreement that includes the release of the remaining women, whom it demanded in the previous deal.

The Israeli newspaper "Maariv" said, last Thursday, that following a report about a new exchange deal between Tel Aviv and Hamas mediated by Qatar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu granted full freedom of action to Mossad chief Dadi Barnea, to free all Israeli detainees in... Gaza strip.

The newspaper added that Cairo has received letters from the Israeli government requesting the opening of new negotiations to release Israeli detainees in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, in a deal that would also include a humanitarian ceasefire.
