In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Council reaffirmed its support for all genuine efforts aimed at achieving peace and praised both sides for heeding the calls of reason and wisdom. The Council added that this step reflects the core Islamic values that emphasize the sanctity of life, good neighborliness, and the preference for dialogue over violence and conflict.
The statement concluded that such actions contribute to realizing the hopes of the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan for peace, development, and stability.
