The Muslim Council of Elders on Wednesday marked the International Day of Human Fraternity — observed annually on Feb. 4 — by recalling the historic signing of the Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
The landmark declaration was signed by Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and Pope Francis, symbolizing a global call for dialogue, peaceful coexistence and the protection of human dignity.
In a statement, the council said the document remains a milestone in efforts to combat hatred and division and to promote mutual respect among cultures and religions.
The council reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to spreading a culture of peace, strengthening understanding among peoples and supporting the building of safe, inclusive societies grounded in shared human values and fraternity.
