The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, expressed solidarity with Venezuela following two earthquakes that struck the country, causing casualties, injuries and extensive damage.
In a statement, the council extended its condolences to the Venezuelan government and the families of the victims, while wishing a speedy recovery for those injured and the safe return of people reported missing.
The council called on the international community to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and provide urgent support for relief and rescue operations, including assistance for those affected and efforts to locate the missing.
The Muslim Council of Elders said coordinated international action is essential to help alleviate the humanitarian impact of the disaster and support recovery efforts in the affected areas.
