The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, expressed its solidarity with Indonesia after a school collapse in East Java left several people dead and injured.
In a statement, the council extended its “deepest condolences to Indonesia’s leadership, people, and the families of the victims,” asking God to grant mercy to the deceased, success to rescue operations for those trapped, and a swift recovery for the injured.
The council, an international body based in Abu Dhabi and founded in 2014 to promote peace and interfaith dialogue, frequently issues statements of support in the wake of global humanitarian crises.
