The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, calls on the Syrian people to prioritize wisdom and the supreme national interest in order to achieve the aspirations of all Syrians.
The Council emphasizes that this critical juncture in Syria’s history requires collective efforts to safeguard the Syrian nation-state, maintain its unity and stability, and protect its resources, while avoiding chaos and instability.
The Council also condemns the Israeli occupation of the demilitarized buffer zone in the Golan Heights, asserting that this constitutes a blatant violation of international laws and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. Such actions, the Council warns, risk escalating tensions and pose a threat to security and stability in the region.
