The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Ahmed Al-Tayeb, condemned a shooting at an Islamic center in San Diego that left three people dead.
In a statement, the council denounced all forms of violence, extremism, hatred and Islamophobia, as well as attacks targeting places of worship and civilians. It said such acts contradict religious and humanitarian values and threaten social stability and security.
The council also called for stronger international efforts to combat hate speech, racism and extremism, while promoting mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and human fraternity among people of different faiths and cultures.
The organization expressed solidarity with the victims of the attack and their families.
