The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, has condemned a shooting incident at Brown University in the U.S. state of Rhode Island, rejecting what it described as all criminal acts aimed at terrorizing innocent civilians.
In a statement, the council stressed the need to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace, warning against violence in all its forms. It expressed solidarity with the United States and extended condolences to the government and people, as well as to the families of the victims.
The council also wished a speedy recovery to those injured, reaffirming its commitment to advancing human fraternity and peaceful coexistence amid rising concerns over acts of violence targeting civilians.
