The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has strongly condemned the criminal attacks targeting a mosque in Peacehaven and a Jewish synagogue in Manchester, United Kingdom.
In a statement, the Council denounced all forms of terrorism and extremism that target houses of worship and violate human and religious values, the teachings of divine religions, and international conventions that call for respecting faiths and safeguarding their sanctities.
The Council also warned of the alarming rise in hate speech, racism, and Islamophobia, urging the international community to intensify efforts to promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. It called for embracing the human values embodied in the Document on Human Fraternity, to build a world rooted in peace and mutual respect among followers of all religions and cultures.
