MCE Calls for Empowering Women in Science

The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, said Wednesday that empowering women and girls in science, research and innovation is a moral and humanitarian necessity for building more just and sustainable societies.

In a statement marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the council described supporting women’s participation in scientific fields as a genuine investment in the future of humanity and a key driver of social progress.

The body highlighted women’s historic contributions to scientific advancement and called for expanding equitable and quality education opportunities for girls in science and technology.

It added that strengthening female participation in scientific sectors helps promote social cohesion and advance sustainable development goals, urging institutions and communities to continue supporting initiatives that enhance women’s roles in innovation and knowledge production worldwide.
