On Tuesday, Republican US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy started an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.

The latest move is part of a series of attempts by Congress to remove the Democratic president.

McCarthy's move will lead to various hearings by the House of Representatives that could impact the efforts to avoid a government shutdown and the 2024 presidential race.

Republicans who slightly have the majority of the House of Representatives accused Biden of profiting during his run as vice president from 2009 to 2017 with his son Hunter Biden's activities.

However, the investigation conducted by the Senate failed to reveal any evidence of accusing Biden.

McCarthy commented: "We will go where the evidence takes us," McCarthy said.

Biden previously mocked Republicans over a possible impeachment which led the White House Spokesperson Ian Sams to comment saying: "Extreme politics at its worst."

The upcoming inquiry will focus on Hunter Biden's business dealings in Ukraine.

Throughout time those impeachment inquiries didn't succeed to end the reign of a US president.
