The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasts a noticeable drop in temperatures across northern Egypt, including Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with decreases ranging between 6 and 7 degrees Celsius.

Daytime highs are expected to range between 20 and 23°C along the northern coasts, 25 to 26°C in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta, and 29 to 31°C in northern Upper Egypt.

The weather will be accompanied by varying chances of rainfall across northern regions and Sinai, along with active winds ranging between 40 and 50 km/h across most areas.

Moderate rain, which may become heavy and occasionally thunderous, is expected over parts of the northern coasts and northern Delta.

There is also a risk of flash floods in areas of South Sinai and the Gulf of Aqaba during intermittent periods.

Light to moderate rain may extend to southern Delta regions, canal cities, and parts of the Red Sea governorate, with a 20 percent chance of reaching Greater Cairo and northern and central Upper Egypt.

Strong winds may raise dust and sand, reducing visibility in exposed areas, with gusts reaching 60 to 70 km/h at times.

Maritime conditions are also expected to be rough in parts of the Mediterranean Sea, with wind speeds between 50 and 70 km/h and wave heights ranging from 2.5 to 4 meters.

Temperatures are forecast as follows: Cairo: High 26°C, Low 14°C, Alexandria: High 20°C, Low 15°C, Matrouh: High 19°C, Low 14°C, Sohag: High 34°C, Low 18°C, Qena: High 37°C, Low 20°C, and Aswan: High 41°C, Low 25°C
