Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decree that Saturday May 2 will be marked as a paid official holiday marking Labor Day.

Under the decree issued on Wednesday, Saturday May 2 will be taken as a paid leave in full for employees of ministries, government and public institutions as well as the public and private sectors instead of Friday May 1.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Manpower Muhammad Saafan, announced earlier that May 1, which marks Labor Day, will be a day off for employees in the private sector.

In a statement last Monday, Saafan said that the Labor day will be a full paid leave, adding that if employees are forced to work during this day, they are entitled to another leave instead.

Meantime, the cabinet said today that Saturday May 2 will be taken as a paid leave instead of Friday May 1 as it coincides with a weekend day.
