Mauritania's Minister of Economy, Abdel Salam Ould Mohamed Saleh, has signed a significant financing agreement with Bernard Hein, the Regional Director for West and Central Africa at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The agreement, valued at $18.696 million, is set to enhance the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources, Municipal Equipment, and Organization of Rural Producers project.
Announced by the Ministry in a statement on Friday, the deal inked in Rome aims to bolster agricultural production and productivity through the sustainable management of resources within the framework of projects supported by IFAD.
This includes the development of small to medium-sized dams and qualified agricultural areas.
Additionally, the agreement will facilitate the establishment of rural economic and social infrastructure to support local development and prepare for future investments as part of IFAD's thirteenth funding cycle in Mauritania.
