In a significant gesture of solidarity, Mauritania's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed El Amin Abi El Sheikh El Hadrami, has announced the postponement of school activities scheduled for Monday. This decision aligns with Mauritania's support for Gaza and the broader Palestinian cause.
Mauritanian media reported that this suspension includes all classes, tests, and exams planned for the day. The aim is to enable students to partake in organized events expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania also highlighted the critical situation in the Palestinian territories. He expressed concern over the escalating crisis in the Middle East and its potential global ramifications. President Ghazouani emphasized the need for immediate action to establish safe passages for essential aid to Gaza. He advocated for an immediate ceasefire to allow for the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid and to create an opportunity for restoring peace and stability in the region.
During his address at the Cairo Peace Summit, President Ghazouani underscored that lasting peace and stability in the region are unattainable without resolving the Palestinian issue. He called for earnest and determined efforts to find a solution that facilitates the coexistence of Palestine and Israel in peace and security.
President Ghazouani also expressed hope that the summit would accelerate efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reflecting Mauritania's commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.
