Mauritania has launched its first national cloud platform designed to host government data and digital services within the country, marking a key step toward strengthening digital sovereignty and reducing reliance on foreign digital infrastructure.
The government said the initiative aims to improve cybersecurity, protect sensitive national data, and ensure the continuity of public services through a secure and locally managed digital environment. The platform will also support the country’s wider digital transformation efforts across state institutions.
Officials from the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization stated that the system will enhance the efficiency and quality of public services by providing modern infrastructure tailored to government needs, while also contributing to the development of the national digital economy.
The platform was officially launched at the National Data Centre under the supervision of senior government officials. The state has not disclosed the cost of the project, which forms part of broader plans to expand ICT infrastructure and strengthen domestic hosting of digital services.
