The Maulana Azad Indian Cultural Center, Embassy of India in Cairo, in cooperation with the The Caricature Museum in Fayoum and Egypt Cartoon Blog, is organizing an exhibition entitled "Gandhi in the Eyes of Cartoonists" at the Indian Cultural Center.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 and was known for his social, political and spiritual philosophy, which has inspired people all over the world. Gandhi adhered to the policy of non-violence and lived a simple life, becoming a symbol of peace and truth, not only in his native India but in the whole world.

The exhibition "Gandhi in the Eyes of Cartoonists" is an extension of the extensive cooperation between the Embassy of India in Cairo and The Caricature Museum in Fayoum and Egypt Cartoon Blog. The exhibition presents a wonderful collection of caricatures of Mahatma Gandhi by prominent Egyptian artists including Ahmed Elwy, Amna Saad, Eslam Zaki, Farouk Mousa, Fawzy Morsy, Hany Abd El Gawwad, Hassan Farouk, Kaled Salah Marwa Ibrahim, Omar Seddik, and others from different countries. The exhibition will be inaugurated by H.E. Mr Ajit Gupte, Ambassador of India to Egypt, Ambassador Mr Mohamed Hegazy (former Egyptian Ambassador to India) and Mr Mohammed Abla, fine artist.

In their work, the artists have used various techniques such as drawing in pencil, charcoal, pen, ink and even conceptual photography – revealing Gandhi's depths through their pictorial, intellectual and sometimes satirical approaches.
