Firefighting teams have successfully brought under control a massive fire that erupted, engulfing trailers, cars, and other materials in storage yards beneath a major freeway in the heart of Los Angeles, leading to a temporary road closure, as confirmed by authorities.
On Saturday, the fire sent massive flames shooting skyward, with firefighters encountering twisted protective barriers and shattered black concrete near the Interstate 10 freeway bridge in an industrial area.
Authorities have announced that the road connecting east and west Los Angeles will remain closed for at least 24 hours, extending through Sunday.
While the fire did not result in any injuries, it consumed an area equivalent to 6 football fields, according to the Fire Department.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire.
