A fire broke out at an electricity substation in Westminster, with thick smoke seen billowing across northwest London just weeks after a similar incident caused chaos at Heathrow Airport and affected commutes.
According to The Telegraph, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said a team of 10 firefighters were tackling the blaze in Westminster, where there was a "significant" amount of smoke. Crews were called to the scene in Victoria Lane, NW8, at 5:29 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving 73 reports.
Videos on social media show large amounts of dark smoke rising into the sky after what appears to be an explosion. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Paul Morgan, station commander at the scene, said: "This is a very clear fire, and there is a lot of smoke. Residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed."
