A violent explosion at a manufacturing plant in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has resulted in at least two deaths and 84 injuries. Authorities confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that eight individuals remain missing as rescue teams continue to scour the debris.

The blast occurred on Sunday at a panel factory operated by Baogang Steel United, located in the western district of Baotou City. According to a statement released by local authorities via the Xinhua News Agency, the explosion was caused by the failure of a 650-cubic-meter spherical tank saturated with water and steam.

Casualties and Emergency Response Of the 84 people transported to hospitals, five are reported to be in critical condition. The remaining 79 victims sustained minor injuries, including facial lacerations and soft tissue bruising, and are currently in stable condition.

In the immediate aftermath, a city-wide emergency headquarters was established to coordinate efforts between fire services, public security, health departments, and market regulators. Search and rescue operations are currently running at full capacity to locate the eight missing workers.

Safety Crackdown and Environmental Concerns Following the disaster, the Chinese government ordered an immediate suspension of production at the affected facility. Furthermore, a comprehensive safety review has been launched for all industrial and commercial enterprises across Baotou City to prevent future tragedies.
