Addis Ababa Police Commission announced, Sunday, that 3 people were killed and 5 wounded in a massive explosion in a mosque in the Ethiopian capital.

Almayho Ayalqeb, director of the Special Investigations and Organized Crime Police in Addis Ababa, explained that a massive explosion took place behind a mosque in the center of the capital, killing 3 homeless people in the streets and wounding five others.

A statement added that the the interrogators are still at large, noting that investigations are underway and the police will announce the results later.

The Ethiopian police did not accuse any party. Nonetheless, it warned that suicide attacks might happen by Sleeper Cells of Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).

At the beginning of this month, 2 December, huge explosion took place near Addis Ababa International Airport, the government accused, again, TPLF of planning the attacks, although there was no immediate indication the incident was related to their month-long war in northern Ethiopia.

“A bomb disposal squad was on their way to the scene to defuse the bomb, and suddenly the bomb has exploded for unknown reasons,” Addis Ababa police said in a statement. “One inpidual suffers a minor injury.”

On the other hand, the United Nations (UN) humanitarian convoys have begun to arrive in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, after it was cut off since Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched a military offensive in early November targeting (TPLF), according to Sputnik News agency.

“Our colleagues from the World Food Program (WFP) managed to get a convoy,” the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric said, adding that “18 trucks delivered 570 tons of food.”

“The convoy went to the Adi Haroush and Mai Ain camps in Tigray, which mainly host refugees from Eritrea. The aid allows feeding 35,000 refugees for a month, and it will be distributed in the coming days,” Dujarric continued.
