A wave of patriotic enthusiasm swept through Egyptian communities worldwide on Friday as voters flocked to polling stations at Egyptian embassies and consulates across several countries to cast their ballots in the parliamentary elections.
From Milan to Riyadh, Kuwait, Dubai, Manama, Muscat, and Doha, Egyptian nationals began lining up outside embassies early in the morning. Doors opened at 9 a.m. local time, marking the start of a day that many described as a “national symphony” of unity and civic duty.
The first phase of the parliamentary elections for Egyptians abroad is being held on November 7 and 8, while voters inside Egypt will head to the polls on November 10 and 11.
A total of 2,598 candidates are competing for individual seats, alongside the National List for Egypt, which brings together a coalition of political parties and groups.
Voters abroad expressed a shared sense of pride and hope, emphasizing the importance of electing a parliament that reflects the people’s will and strengthens Egypt’s legislative and reform path.
Embassies and consulates, in coordination with local authorities, ensured a smooth voting process through well-organized procedures and logistical support. Clear instructions, dedicated staff, and accessible facilities contributed to the high voter turnout observed in most polling locations.
Members of the Egyptian diaspora underscored the significance of their participation. “Voting is not just a right, it’s a national duty we owe to our country,” said one voter outside the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait. Similar sentiments echoed across other capitals where Egyptians gathered in large numbers, waving flags and sharing moments of patriotic pride.
The robust turnout among Egyptians abroad underscores their continued connection to the homeland and their commitment to contributing to Egypt’s democratic journey.
