On Saturday, Masoud Pezeshkian won the presidential elections after defeating Saeed Jalili in running-off.
After his victory, Pezeshkian promised to extend his hand to all Iranians.
He said on X: “The difficult path ahead will not be smooth except with your companionship, empathy, and trust."
He added: “I extend my hand towards you and swear on my honour that I will not leave you alone on this path. Don’t leave me alone."
The Ministry of Interior said on Saturday: “By gaining [the] majority of the votes cast on Friday, Pezeshkian has become Iran’s next president.”
Pezeshkian gained 53.7 percent of the votes, while Jalili received 44.3 percent.
Jalili admitted his defeat, saying that everyone elected by the people should be respected.
